After graduating from fashion design at RMIT in 2002 Kirsty Barros worked as a designer for many renowned Australian labels doing stints for T.L.WOOD, ALICE McCALL, MIMCO and INSIGHT.
A move to Chile in 2010 was a turning point in her career when she started travelling regularly to the U.S.A to source and curate vintage ranges for her own on line website and other prominent Australian brands. Recognising a desir in the market for something personal and bespoke she launched her own label MAKERS OF BELIEF customising vintage pieces and adding a modern spin through hand beading and sequining.
Through her creative consulting and sourcing work the Makers of Belief collections grew and so too Kirsty’s styling career where she found she could use her eye for detail and start to spread her wings in a more creative manner.
Kirsty’s styling work has not just been restricted to the traditional fashion editorial path. Her inherent understanding of the power of clothing to elevate and transform, and a love of theatrics and music has led her to work as a stylist for many bands including TOTAL GIOVANNI & NOZU.
More recently Kirsty has been taking her bespoke garments to the next level, creating flambouyant stage costumes for CLIENT LIASON and founding and designing and their sell out launch fashion Designer Line.
‘Tongue in cheek’ probably best describes Kirsty’s approach to fashion, but her eye for detail and opinion are valued by many fashion heavyweights and she continues to consult for brands today including LUCY FOLK PLAYA
From art direction, styling and design through to overseeing production, Kirsty Barros is a rare diamond whose talents and experience cover almost every area in the industry.
